2022 iPipeline Ping Self-Service Update

What is happening?

To better support iPipeline users who log in to our applications via an iPipeline login page, iPipeline has updated all self-service user management pages. This update will leverage out-of-the-box self-service from Ping to improve iPipeline’s user maintenance capabilities, replacing iPipeline current self-service (aka PipePass) features in use today.

This update impacts all direct logins via iPipeline login pages, but not single sign-on (SSO) users.  Security questions are no longer used for verifying user identity.  Instead, passwords and a verified email address will be utilized.

This update to self-service user management features for direct login users includes the following features:
• Create Accounts
• Update Accounts
• Change Passwords
• Forgot Username
• Forgot Password
• Verify Email Address (removed indefinitely March 4, 2023)

For an overview and instructions for using this features, please see the knowledgebase article iPipeline Self-Service User Management Overview.

Who will be affected by the upgrade?

A large majority of iPipeline’s life insurance line of business applications are protected by Ping, and many support a configuration option with direct login and user management via iPipeline pages (non SSO), including:

  • DocFast
  • InsureSight
  • iGO
  • Illustrations (excluding Welis)
  • Quote (LifePipe and iSolve)
  • FormsPipe
  • Resonant
  • iService
  • and more

After Ping Self-Service relies on account email addresses, so they should be kept up-to-date for future self service. Should the user forget their username or password in the future, iPipeline will send an email via Ping Self-Service for the user to get their user name reminder or initiate and manage the password change, respectively, without the need for security questions nor a support request.

When is this happening?

This new capability will be introduced to users by application, where the customer has configured the iPipeline application for direct logins via iPipeline application login pages. iPipeline has targeted a progressive deployment schedule to mitigate the volume of users impacted at any one time.

What is the call to action?

Note: As of March 4, 2023 most of this section is obsolete.  The upgrades for most applications have been completed, and we are indefinitely removing the email verification concept and capability with Ping Self-Service.

If you are unable to locate the “Verify your email address” email, check your spam folder for emails for “do-not-reply@ipipeline.com” and add that address to your trusted senders or focused / primary email folder for the future. * If you still are unable to locate the “Verify your email address” email, you may log back in and go to the “Update Account” page to verify your email address and re-send the email to yourself again. * For multi-session users who may use incognito windows, various browsers, or multiple iPipeline login IDS, be sure to open the “Verify email” link in the same browser session where you logged in originally for this user. Copy and paste the link from the email, if necessary.

If you have existing access to iPipeline UAT environments, and are leveraging one of the impacted applications via a direct login, please feel free to login after the upgrade to verify your email address and get familiar with the new workflow and user experience, especially for that initial email verification process.
